Outdoor Solid Color System
One clean, UV-stable color for patios and porches. Our outdoor solid color system goes down over a moisture vapor barrier and finishes in one pigmented polyaspartic coat, a clean, uniform color that holds up to Texas sun.
Where our outdoor solid color coatings work best
- Covered patios and back porches
- Front porches, stoops and entry steps
- Walkways and sidewalks
- Outdoor kitchens and grill areas
- Carports and breezeways
- Garage aprons and shop approaches
- Commercial entries and ramps
- Patios that want a clean, modern look instead of flake
Good to know
- Outdoor slabs are shot blasted to CSP 3 or heavier, because exterior concrete is denser and dirtier than a garage slab.
- Every outdoor slab gets moisture checks before we price it, and the vapor barrier goes down first.
- A smooth color coat can be slick when wet. Ask us about a texture additive for steps, walkways and anywhere water collects.
Every floor is quoted after we inspect the slab. See what a floor typically costs or read the warranty details.
Pick your solid colour
One colour, wall to wall, with nothing in it to hide behind. These are the solid colours we install. Pick one to see it as a large field rather than a chip.

A solid floor shows surface texture and tyre marks more than a flake or metallic one does, and light colours show dust while dark ones show dried water. Ask us about adding a texture additive if the floor gets wet.
How an outdoor solid color floor is built
A moisture vapor barrier first, then one pigmented polyaspartic coat in your color.
| Layer | Material | Film build | Coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polyaspartic base coat | Pigmented polyaspartic | 6–10 mils WFT | 150–200 sq ft/gal |
| Moisture vapor barrier | Rapid-cure MVB primer | 12–15 mils WFT (11–13.5 DFT) | — |
| Surface prep | Shot blast | CSP 3 minimum | — |
The vapor barrier is what keeps an outdoor slab from pushing moisture up through the colour coat; we map the slab with a moisture meter per ASTM F2659, check it per ASTM D4263 and measure the emission rate per ASTM F1869 before we price the job. Film build is stated as wet film thickness and coverage rate, which is how it is verified in the field on concrete. Figures are the published values for the products we specify.
Outdoor solid color questions
How is an outdoor solid color coating built?
Over a shot-blasted slab, we put down a rapid-cure moisture vapor barrier, then one pigmented polyaspartic coat in the color you choose.
Will an outdoor solid color fade or yellow in the sun?
The color coat is polyaspartic, which is UV-stable and holds its color in sunlight. Standard epoxy yellows and chalks outdoors, which is why we do not use it there.
Is a solid color patio slippery when wet?
A smooth coating can be slick when wet. For steps, walkways and anywhere water collects, we recommend adding a texture additive for traction.
Why does an outdoor floor need a vapor barrier?
Ground moisture pushes up through an exterior slab. The vapor barrier stops it from reaching the color coat, which is what keeps the coating from lifting.
Is solid color cheaper than flake outdoors?
Usually, because there is no flake broadcast. The prep and the vapor barrier are the same, so the coating is just as well bonded to the slab.
Built for Texas sun and rain

Chemical resistance
Oil, gasoline, brake fluid and road salt wipe up instead of soaking in.

UV stable — does not yellow
Polyaspartic topcoats hold their color in Texas sun, where epoxy would amber.

Chip resistance
Bonded into a mechanically profiled slab, so a dropped wrench does not pop it loose.

Scratch resistance
A hard clear topcoat takes foot traffic, pets and rolling tool chests.
