Why not plain epoxy outdoors?
Standard epoxy yellows and chalks in direct sunlight. That is why every outdoor job uses our polyaspartic system: a moisture vapor barrier, a double broadcast of flake or quartz, and a UV-stable topcoat.
- Patios, covered porches, outdoor kitchens, walkways and shop aprons
- Moisture vapor barrier under a double broadcast
- UV-stable topcoat with non-slip texture
- Typical outdoor area installed in two days
*Typical outdoor area of about 400 sq ft. See what outdoor work typically costs.
Outdoor floor systems
Two finishes hold up outdoors. Both go down over a moisture vapor barrier and under a UV-stable topcoat; the difference is the broadcast and how much traction you want underfoot.
Real TechShield installs. Colors and flake blends vary by job; we bring samples to your quote.

Outdoor coating questions
How much do outdoor floor coatings cost?
Outdoor work prices differently from a garage because it needs a moisture vapor barrier, a double flake broadcast and a UV-stable topcoat, and it takes two days instead of one. We quote after measuring the area and checking drainage.
How long does installation take?
A typical garage of about 400 sq ft takes one day. An outdoor area of about 400 sq ft takes two days.
What is the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?
Polyaspartic is UV-stable and does not yellow in sunlight, which is why we use it outdoors and for our longest-warranty garage systems. Epoxy is a solid interior option but can yellow in UV, so we do not warranty epoxy outdoors.
Will the floor be slippery?
We add texture and broadcast to give traction. Flake and quartz systems add grip, and outdoor systems are textured for wet conditions.
Do I need HOA approval?
Interior garage floors generally do not. Exterior surfaces such as driveways, porches, and patios may, so check your community guidelines first.
Built for Texas sun and rain

Chemical resistance
Oil, gasoline, brake fluid and road salt wipe up instead of soaking in.

UV stable — does not yellow
Polyaspartic topcoats hold their color in Texas sun, where epoxy would amber.

Chip resistance
Bonded into a mechanically profiled slab, so a dropped wrench does not pop it loose.

Scratch resistance
A hard clear topcoat takes foot traffic, pets and rolling tool chests.
